Property Accountant

Position Summary: Accurately prepares regular revenue audits and financial analysis to supplement overall financial reports.


Major Responsibility Areas:

  • Maintains all general ledger responsibilities for commercial property operations
  • Performs bank and escrow accounts reconciliation.
  • Reviews accounts receivable aging for delinquencies, cash applications and prepaid rent application.
  • Prepares balance sheet tie-out to balance the general ledger and commercial management systems.
  • Prepares income, expense and capital improvement budgets as well as all related month/year-end accounting statements.
  • Accurately reports tenant payments received and due, and performs account analysis and reconciliation when Property Managers or tenants question tenant statements.
  • Calculates and records appropriate depreciation and amortization of fixed assets, tenant improvements, and leasing commissions.


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Requires a BS in Accounting. Real estate related accounting experience is required; must have at least 3-5 years of specifically property accountant experience
  • Must have experience using MRI software; knowledge of Great Plains accounting suite is preferred
  • Ability to organize/prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously essential.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must possess an outstanding working knowledge of all MS Office products, especially Excel.
