Manager, Catering Sales

Major Responsibility Areas:
 
  • Aggressively solicits and sells catering services and executes catering sales plans to achieve and ideally exceed goals
  • Provides overall direction, coordination and ongoing oversight of catering events
  • Guides clients through property limitations
  • Schedules and leads BEO meetings as necessary; responsible for communicating event details to all affected departments in a time-sensitive manner
  • Maintains strong knowledge of local social catering and wedding markets, with the ability to sell and service such events
  • Manages expenses to budget guidelines for the department
  • Explains and justifies expenses to clients
  • Quickly evaluates alternatives and decides on a plan of action as necessary
  • Evaluates each piece of catering business to ensure that the Company can be properly service such an event
  • Recommends enhancements for catered events to include floral arrangements, table settings, room appointments, etc.
  • Conducts in-house tours for clients prior to bookings
  • Reviews all billings prior to submitting for processing
  • Works with clients to coordinate all events and ensures that events are carried out in an effective manner
  • Tours event space prior to events frequently to assure proper set-ups are in place
  • Works with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for all events
  • Offers innovative suggestions for guests on set-ups, menus and activities
  • Handles client requests promptly and with high level of accuracy and poise
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree with a focus on Marketing, Business or a related discipline plus 5+ years of event/catering selling experience. 
  • CMP certification is highly preferred.
  • Must possess excellent organizational, project management, interpersonal, analytical, communication and administrative skills.
  • Requires a strong background in hospitality related sales, F&B operations, catering and relationship development.
  • Must be proficient with all MS Office applications
  • Extensive experience working with hotel, resort and/or concierge markets is a must.
